If the fabric for the skirt is really see-through, or if it shows every bump, crevice, or line that is under the skirt, you should wear a slip. It's basically an under the skirt skirt. Like underwear for your skirt.... but you should still wear underwear anyway.

I don't think slips are worn too much anymore; wearing pantyhose under a skirt is usually enough, not to mention it is a very hot look!
