In June, my wife and I celabrate our 25th anniversary. I'm going home for our daughters high school graduation and then we're heading off for 'our time'. I work in Europe. We met in Germany once before, about three years ago for a vacation. I suggested going to Germany again, but she thought somewhere else might be nice. I jokeing suggested that I pick the place and just tell her what type of clothing to bring. To my suprise that sounded like a great idea to her. We drove too much when she visited before (her first and only trip outside the US) so I want a place where we would enjoy our time without traveling after we get there. I've thought of so many places, but am open to ideas. India, France, Egypt, Ireland, England, Denmark, Czech Republic… are some of the places I've thought of, but haven't made up my mind. We should have around seven to ten days where ever we go. Where do you suggest?

Is there a place that holds special meaning for you? Or a place that she has mentioned that she has always wanted to go?

If she is up for surprises, then this sounds lovely, and almost any place would be welcome (I'd love Prague, myself, but that's me - Paris could either be especially romantic or especially cheesy depending on her tastes). Just make sure to check the VISA requirements for the country, since you will lose the element of surprise if she has to fill-out and sign forms and submit three identical photos for the documentation (Russia, for example - Black Sea resorts near Sochi might be out or St. Petersburg's White Nights Festival in June).

Large European city would be my ideal location if you don't want to drive, and rail system will take you to sites that are just outside the city limits. If you go to Ireland, be prepared for a lot of narrow, winding roads with stone fences on either side to get to some tourist attractions (Cliffs of Moher, etc) - but incredibly scenic for the person not behind the wheel.

In June? Hmmm.... I love WA DC and you could spend a ton of time there without travelling. Paris is wonderful also. June would be mid-winter in Australia but Sydney is a beautiful city and you could do all kinds of stuff there without travelling.

If you're into outdoor stuff, you could look into the Canadian Rockies. Banff and Lake Louise. Alaska is really cool in June because the days are so long but you can't go to Alaska and not travel a lot (it is a huge state).

New York City is really cool but expensive.

If you have not already done so, talk to a travel agent. Go look at photos of places. Maybe give your wife some photos and have her pick the ones that look most like something she would like to do. If she picks beaches, you'll be able to narrow down your focus, if she picks skylines then you've got a better idea what to do. But get an idea of what she would like that way.

Hope it is wonderful! Have fun!

Take her out for a special dinner, then to a hotel where you have already set up a bottle of champagne, maybe an in room hottub, rose pedals lead the way to the bed, maybe her favorite chocolates on the bed, chocolate covered strawberries, a special card to let her know how much you love and need her. and of course buy her some jewelry 25 is the silver anniversary but gold and diamonds are better!!

If you're physically fit and want to see a beautiful country, go to New Zealand. There's a very cool trail called the Milford Track. Our 17 y.o. leaves in June so we're celebrating next winter!
