Funnily enough, the drug that ends up being Bonds' undoing may not be steroids, but amphetamines.
Recent allegations amidst the positive amphetamine test that have come out will force a standoff between the Giants & Bonds over his new contract... and if Barry doesn't back down and acquiesce, then a lot of pundits believe that Bonds will be shown the door.
Fingers crossed...
And in response to posters who have stated that a) Bonds has never tested positive for steroids, therefore he's fine... & b) steroids don't help...
I respond...
a) Don't be so obtuse. The evidence is THERE that Bonds is a known steroids user. All you have to do is look at before & after pictures to see - the fact that his cap size has grown substantially (cranial growth is a side-effect of prolonged use of steroids) points in one direction only. Every baseball writer in America is convinced, but typically MLB just wants it all to go away.
b) Steroids don't help? A massive strength increase won't help hitting homeruns??? Heh... sure - eye/hand co-ordination isn't assisted, but steroids turn that bloop single, that out-flyball into an outta-the-park-HOMERUN!
If Bonds does pass Hammerin' Hank, I can bet you that the celebrations will be minimal.

There is no doubt in my mind that he will and unfortunately it will be in the record books.
I also feel that he will not get caught doing steroids because he probably is not taking them anymore after all this controversy; that is probably why he was caught using amphetamines.
However, it doesn't mean that we the fans have to support Bonds or even acknowledge the record.
Go Aaron! Bonds sucks.

If he does break hank's record no one will think he did it on his own without the help of steroids. And he could end up like Mark McGuire.I know I wouldn't think he did it on his own.

Bonds will break the record most likely in August 2007. To date he has 734HRS. Hank Aaron had 755HRS. So Bonds needs 21HRS to tie, 22HRS to break the record. Last year, he hit 26HRS, so it might take him until September to break the recond.

I personnally never really liked Bonds since he first started to play. I think it is a hit or miss because he obviously can but it does come down to whether or not he gets injuried again. I just dont understand why people hate him because he used steriods. steriods do not do ANYTHING in improving how you are able to hit the ball and you eye sight!!!!!!!!!!! Get it through your heads people........ Steriods do not do anything to help with your baseball skills!

Personally, I hope his knee goes out on him early in the season before he gets a chance to break the record. The thought of such a miserable excuse of a human being as him holding the HR record makes me want to throw up! But, it won't be recognized, nor will his single season HR record - too many questions about steroids.

Love the idea for the banner. Don't think he should get credit for passing him up if he used steriods.

He will only hit about 10 this year before he suffers a season ending injury due to steroid use and Aarons record will survive another day.

He should be banned. Half of baseball isnt real anymore. If the players could do it without steriods back then they should be able to do it now.
