The cold war is over because the communist nation that swore to destroy us is now destroyed. We never had a problem with any nation or people, regardless of their politics, until they declare war on us. Americans prefer to live and let live. Unfortunately, in this world, that is not always possible.
The problem with communism is that it denys human nature. It can't really work without the direct intervention of God, And modern communism without exception denies the existence of God.

Nothing theoretically is wrong with communism except for the fact that in history when communism was attempted (there has never been a true communist state) that there are severe human rights violations and life tends to be worse off for those citizens. The Cold War wasn't so much against communism but rather the USSR, and there arms build up, hence the name "Cold War." The fall of the Berlin Wall signaled the break up of the USSR and there move to a more democratic state. The USSR was spending the vast majority of their budget on their arms build up which was ruining their country. The Cold War was "Cold" because no actual battles were fought between the US and the USSR. The fall of the Berlin Wall coincided with the USSR reducing the amount of weapons, specifically nuclear weapons they had and a shift from them being an enemy into them becoming a relative ally of the US. This is why the Cold War is over not because the US believes that the world is rid of communist states.

Communism, capitalism, globalism and other ism's are simply social and economic concepts as to how mankind can best run the planet. Inherently, there is nothing wrong with any of these concepts. However, whenever powerful men and woman influence the basic precepts of each of these ism's, they inevitably pervert the ism's into a tyrannical method of controlling the people.
It was Thomas Jefferson who wrote--- "Experience hath shown that even under the best forms of government, those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations , perverted it into tyranny".

Its war on Islam now. You know to day we have one single world power the USA. And you know the USA can not last as a world single power for long. The dialectical theory says that no single power can last long so the USA is picking on a weak power "Islam" but we also know that the main contending powers to the USA are China and Europe its a mater of time for a real clash between them. Islam and West were Allies in the war against Communism.
