I find this SO annoying. They make curvy sound like a nice, soft word, but then "skinny", is just a sharp word. Do you think it's the fat people trying to make themselves feel better, to put down the smaller people because they're jealous? I'm neither, so I guess I'm not really bias.

But seriously, I hear about fat women trash thin women all the time, saying it's gross, and that it's not natural. Neither is being fat!
What's your opinion on this???

Actually, let me change the title question..

Why do people call fat women "curvy", and smaller women, "skinny"?

I never thought that "skinny" was a bad thing. Sometimes "too skinny" is a negative. I've also never automatically thought "fat" and "curvy" are synonymous. I think "curvy" refers to hourglass shapes. That can be true of both skinny or over weight women. I'm not fat...but I am curvy...definitely not skinny because of my curves.

Just a thought....

Fat is not curvy. Curvy is when girls have fat in the right places that give them curves, like thighs hips butt and breast. Some girls can pull it off others just look fat and gross.

Skinny may sound slightly negative but its not. Thin sounds better. For bigger women they sometimes use the word 'thick' which could be both good or bad just depends on how you look at it. I don't see the word skinny as anything insulting

I agree with you, I feel the same eay. They say all women are beautiful but only make the curvy women look good. The girl who plays Cinderella in the live action movie "Cinderella" is being bashed at because of her naturally thin waist. But skinny people and curvy people seem to he at war with each other...I say ALL women are beautiful, no katter the body type.

I have been on both sides and I will admit when I was skinny 5'5" 99 lbs-103lbs until I was 32 and I thought fat or curvy women were just lazy. Now I am in my 50's and weigh 155 and am very curvy and lazy has nothing to do with it. Now I think people should spend less time judging.

I think that curvy means having curves and skinny as being with out them. As for the fat women talking trash, they are probably just jealous. But there are extremes with being both too skinny and too fat. Neither is the right thing or healthy.

To me the term 'curvy' is someone who has an hourglass figure with nice curves. Overweight is the correct term. And I don't see anything wrong with 'skinny'.

I don't like trashing of anyone, either. But curvy doesn't mean fat. What's considered fat today was NOT considered fat until the 70's. A curvy woman has curves, a thin woman is straight up and down, with no curves.

They call fat people curvy because there curves(hips) are more widen then skinner people. I don't think they think there skinny there just more wide at the curves i guess!?!

Did you know that the average fat woman can eat three average skinny women in a 24 hour period?

Bigger women are called curvy because the have curves of fat. Tinier women are called skinny because they have no fat so they are mostly skin and bones.
