it's not a spelling error. It isn't the same thing as allot and a lot or there and they're. In this case the words are spelled AND pronounced differently.

I get 2,300 hits for "postrate cancer" too. Next time I have to figure out how many stamps to put on an envelope I'm gonna be VERY careful...

Don't let it get you down. Both words are not all that optimistic in nature- so people may not have a real want to learn the ramifications. Of course, it's nice to know what someone is talking about, unless that too is more than wanted.
There are so many other things to get annoyed about.

The desire to increase knowledge and vocabulary is apparently not on any TOP TEN list- at least not where I'm from.

Yes, it's annoying, but I am most annoyed by "lay" and "lie". It's not like it's that hard. But that battle is lost and I have to accept it. Once we started telling our DOGS to "lay down", that was the end.

YES...and when they muck up the use of "there, their and they're" or "to, too and two" or "allot and a lot" or "loose and lose"...oh I could go on and on and on..........
I like to refer to it as the "dumbing down of America"
oh and "its and it's"
