One of the most important men in recent times.
He was a civil rights leader at a time in America where blacks had seperate drinking fountains, restrooms, schools, etc.
He gave a very moving and prolific speech known as the "I have a dream" speech.
He talked about a day where people would not be judged by the color of thier skin and said he would not be with us to see that day.
He was assasinated shortly after making that famous speech.

In the 60s I was in my mid teens. Midwestern, there was only a few people of color in our area. I remember seeing the Selma Marches on tv. The sit-ins, opening up the universities. Seeing what was happening in the south was the most shocking experience of my life. In the middle of all this was Dr.King, a man
whose very presence seemed extrodinary. To hear him speak, to watch his very actions in light of the terrible times was both inspiring and uplifting. I have always considered this man to be one of the examples of how to live my life. This was truely one of the great men our country has born. To have his life cut short was a tragedy for all of us.

the bascis a black civil rights leader who taught peaceful protest who was killed just as he bgean to make a real difference. he thus became a martyr to the civil rights cause, and we have a national holiday to celebrate his birthday. we used to celebrate lincoln and washingtons birthdays, but were pressed into having a black holiday so they combined them and gave a day to dr king (don't get bent i'm not commenting an opinion just stating a fact)

he was a radical and his speeches incited his people to violence....we shall overcome was not the best thing to say...He also told his people to have at least 5-6 kids so that in the future his people would be dominant in our society.....He didnt need to be killed, but just shut up.......my opinion .......
