Well it depends largely on what sort of horror movie you're looking for. If you want a Psychological Horror, then I suggest anything by Stephen King. His best selling books that have made great horror movies would have to be: 1408, The Mist, Carrie, Cujo, and the Shining. Pet Cemetery is also pretty good, Or perhaps you are looking for something with a stereotypically 'jumpy' 'edge of your seat' horror movie. Then stick with the Classics: Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday 13th, Doctor Sleep, Jeepers Creepers, Halloween (the original), Nightmare on Elm Street, Wrong Turn, Hellraiser, Scream, Psycho, and even Jaws. (Yes, I know what you're thinking, but Jaws is counted under the horror genre.) Anything by Alfred Hitchcock is Pure Gold.: (My Fav's The Hitcher, but I wouldn't recommended it if you want to scare the girl. Truth be told, it's not that scary). If not them, try something supernatural like the Blair Witch Project, Shrooms, The Omen, The Trench (This is a Fantastic Movie), Grudge, The Ring, Boo, or the Exorcist movies. (Be Warned, Boo in my opinion is quite laughable family fun. But I'm a Horror Movie fan, so I don't scare easy.) Well of all the Movies, I'd would definitely without a doubt suggest to you 'Dog Soldiers.' The Plot's simple. Bunch of soldiers get driven to some woodland area for training purposes. Turns out the night's gonna be a full moon, and the woods are crawling with werewolves; all whom are Villagers in the local town. Now don't be confused with no Twilight Jacob-effing-Black kinda Werewolves, these bastards are vicious, they jump out at unexpected moments (sure to make the girl scream into your embrace) and the blood and gore goes flying every five minutes. I would without a doubt recommend this movie. It's old school, but not to old when graphics and fake blood were pretty poor quality. Anyways, Good Luck. I hope there is something you like amongst these.

I really liked Hostel, The Hills Have Eyes (the remake) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning. I also saw a film called 2001 Maniacs (with Robert Englund of Nightmare on Elm Street fame!), which although was by no means the best horror film it was a bit different and quite entertaining. Evil Aliens was good for a laugh.
I thought Saw 3 was OK but not as good as 1 and 2.
