Very clever. :)
Ok confession time here. I seriously was this Katie Couric goody two shoes in high school. The perky kid who never did anything wrong. College seriously was layed before me so that I could get an education and go on to find an amazing job so I could have an amazing career so that I could live an amazing life! I really didn't think of it as anything other than that......
...... until I got there.
My first quarter of school I dug in hard with something to prove to myself and to my parents. I really really wanted to do well. So I studied daily... never cut classes..... always kept up with everything. But I met some amazing people... and they did introduce the sorority and fraternity life to me. Ok..... I was doing well in school, surely I'd have time to add some extracurriculars. Who knew???
My second quarter of school...... wow! I discovered...... uhm.... that if I didn't constantly keep up with my reading in biology and sociology I was soooo going to flunk out. But I also discovered that keeping up with my reading in biology and sociology just wasn't nearly as much fun as the keg parties were. Long story short. I went from a 3.5 first quarter to something disgustingly low the next.
So you talk about a "fountain of knowledge"........ what better way to learn a lesson about what you are capable of doing and what you actually put forth in effort doing. So indirectly..... discovering drinking and partying taught me a great deal.
I guess with anything, when you have a "new toy" you go wild with it at first.... and then settle in and allow it to just be enjoyed at certain times. And I learned to do this so that I could balance study and play.
Did I go to college to drink? Heavens no... but that fountain overpoured into my life with knowledge in so many ways.

Nope, I didn't go to college to drink, and I was irritated by those who did. I actually went there for knowledge. I went on and got a Master's degree, and now, I teach at a college.
People can do what they want with their own lives, but why would anyone spend several thousands of dollars a year to drink when you can just hang out at a bar and spend a lot less?

no,but this is the reason that most students drink so much beer.(My son says)
Hence the saying " blondes fall into the fountain of knowledge and come out dry."
