I then asked, what about having a bunch of friends comming to your house and playing poker for money, they said that was probably illegal too. If it is illegal, how would something like that be enforced.

I thought that as long as you are 18 or 21, you can legally gamble, or is that only if your at a casino?

Yes that's true, although it depends on the state's law I believe.

But if it's just between you and your friends, there's no way the police will find out. They won't just go busting through everyone's house looking for people gambling.

But if, let's say, you were wanted for robbery, and the police busted through and found you guys gambling, I think they could charge you for that in case the robbery case fails or something.

It is legal as long as you don't take a portion of the pot out. Meaning that you cant profit from an organized game unless you win it.
