Yes, you can.

Be sure to hold the string toward the front of your body so it doesn't get messed up.

Yes. If you are pushing hard to defecate, it may push the tampon out, but otherwise - as they are in different places - a tampon will not prevent a bowel movement from occurring.

Yes, you can or unless your an older lady like I am with poor muscle control, then your tampon falls out and you have to insert another.
