Most people want their cake and eat it too...that's human nature...it's often not the best way to be however...part of being human is our ability to consider the feelings of others, and having a conscience...

Cake Cake
Where did you go?
You left me here
To be hungry ya know.
Cake Cake
What should I do
Bake another-
With some glue?
Glue will make this cake
Stay with me
Not to walk away
With my fresh made tea.
So go on cake
Never to return
While making a new one
I again, hope to not get burned.
If the cake walks away - so let it - theres always more batter at the store! So I would not feel bad at all- I would feel happy about the next cake- and how it would taste!!

You assume it's just men.
With men cheating 60% of the time and women 40%, I don't think men are the only ones that feel this way.
In fact, I assume that, contrary to social opinion, monogamy isn't normal for all people. Unfortunately, society isn't accomodating to those who want to be both honest and are not naturally monogamous. Open relationships are seriously frowned upon.
I am polyamorous. I am very open about my feelings and non-monogamous nature. I always make certain everyone involved is aware and OK before I enter into a relationship (their significant other, if they have one, and my wife). Though sex is a component of these romantic relationships, it's no different than anyone with a girlfriend or wife. They are long term and very loving relationships.
For those who are not monogamous, but not interested in long-term romantic relationships (i.e. sex is the more important aspect), but want to be open and honest with their partner, their is swinging. I"ve never experienced it, so cannot talk about it much.
I've always wondered why people find cheating (breaking the rules) more acceptable than open and honest non-monogamy.

No, I just want to sit there and look at my cake. I don't really want to eat it. (I hate that phrase too.)
If my girlfriend/wife wanted to cheat on me, that's up to her, I guess. I wouldn't stop her. But if she's gone for too long, she'd better be okay with what she finds when she comes back. Life goes on.

Who wouldn't want to have their cake and eat it too? If my cake walked away, I'd find one that's better!

Depends on the cake, if the cake is worth eating or not or if the cake has gone bad and deserves to wither.
