Another note is that when I go to the Network Connections icon I can see the Wireless Connection Icon and it keep saying "Acquiring Network Address" then when I click view other wireless network it says "Windows cannot configure this wirelesss connection"

In addition to all above, make sure that DHCP feature is enabled on your router. Otherwise your PCs will try to acquire and IP address but your router won't provide one.

except for a /renew decision, you won't be able to manually set the tcpip handle from a CMD instantaneous in abode windows XP. you want to do it from the graphical UI. There are 4 recommendations that i'd attempt: a million. examine all cable connections (assuming it truly is not any longer a instantaneous router). know-how dictates that ninety% of the time that's a cable concern. 2. Restart the DHCP server and as quickly simply by the undeniable fact that's operating, attempt the dhcp /renew back 3. From abode windows, open commence - Settings - administration Panel - community Connections, then excellent-click the errant adapter and choose "Disable". Wait some seconds, then click double click it to enable. Open a CMD instantaneous, and do an Ipconfig to be sure if the adapter were given an handle from the DHCP server. If no longer, attempt a /renew 4. Reboot and observe what occurs best of success

From what you have said, I would either delete and start again, or right mouse click on the Network connection and run "repair"
If repair fails, then reboot, start again. It is possible that the system will autodetect elements and repair the setup. If it does not. Strip back the setup and redo the install. You may have to redo the wireless connections from scratch... however, your settings on the wireless router may be causing a problem, if they have been changed or if the network cannot detect what was setup.

normally your wireless router allocates you an ip address - your machine needs to be set for autodetect IP

You need to make sure you are connecting to the correct wireless network (and not your neighbours) and you need to insert the correct network id (ssid) into your machine
