I downloaded a Windows Vista RC1 from the internet.. I know that the beta testing is over now but I want to know something. If I install this Vista RC1 on my computer and then suddenly change my mind to buy the genuine one and uninstall the RC1. Can I uninstall the RC1 like any other programs??

So if I want to erase Vista RC1, can I use my product recovery disc to return it to XP?? and upgrade the genuine one? please expain it thoroughly.. THANKS

in my experiance, Windows NEVER lets you go backwards. you may have to back up all you files and flolders you may want to keep. and just re-install windows XP, it may leave these files and programs on your hardrive.
so.. You start by starting up and hitting F8 on reboot and 'changing' the boot sequence to CD as the first boot devise first and have you recovery disk inserted, / choose boot from disc when it prompts with hit any key to boot from disk, then follow the promots and re-install XP . and choose install into existing Windows folder!!
If you get this option to come up all your old folders and programs will be in place,(although some programs will not work due to their drivers being erased. (so delete those programs in your programs directory and re-install them.)
now I'm not sure if Vists will allow any of this.. but you can try and if you get to the point where you are given an option to reinstall windows into existing folder thant you 'll be fine.. good luck...

Vista. some human beings say Vista makes use of up lots equipment ram. it is real. Vista makes use of those ram to velocity up the pc. Thats why there is not any longer lots loose ram. Xp wastes those loose ram doing no longer something. Vista is much extra nicely suited than XP than u think of it is. Vista hasn't any situation to me for a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days already. Vista is quicker whilst establishing application and beginning the pc. some human beings evaluate XP as a results of fact they're too used to XP or they're gamer. it style of feels vista is slower in video games by potential of two-5 fps. No vast deal. VISTa!

Like any other operating system, you will have to format your drive (the one with Vista RC1) or create another partition to be able to install another operating system.

Operating systems cannot be removed as easily as programs, since they are the base of your PC and your PC cannot run without an operating system.

If however, you do choose to run another beta or maybe even a linux distro, then use VMWARE to run an operating system from inside another (example, running vista beta 1 inside xp without removing xp.) This method is called virtualization.

Free programs are also available to do this. One of those can be downloaded from the following URL:

Good luck. :)

Good question.

I tried to remove Vista like other Windows installations(formatting and removing the boot.ini entry). It didn't delete completely and messed up my boot sequence. I almost had to format my computer, but somehow I managed to set it right.

So, the answer is no. Its very messy.
