Could someone explain to me what is the point of Outlook express. There's another similar program (the name escapes me).
I've spent 12 years messing with computers and i still can't see the point of either of them. I've spent a lot of time over the years, reading manuals and help pages but i just can't see that they do anything but use up disc space. Enlighten me, do.

The purpose of Outloook Express is to link into a mail server so that you can manage your mail on your computer as opposed to using a web-based service. You can archive mail, back it up, and organize it into folders.

I use Outlook Express for my Hotmail account. At work we have Outlook (not express) which also provides collaboration and calendaring features.
