My gas fire place just started to have a rattle/ humming noise when the blower comes on I looked at it the best I could but it's way in the back any suggustions to fix it before I pull the blower/blower motor out.

More than likely the blower noise is coming from lint & dust that has built up on the squirrei cage itself this causes the blower to sometimes be of balance causing it to vibrate & any loose metal on or around your fireplace like lighting instructions that are usually on a metal plate will cause a rattle.The motor may also be on the way out causing the humming noise in which case you will have to replace the blower unit

THE HUMMING NOISE IS USUALLY CAUSED BY LOW OR HIGH GAS PRESSURE TO THE FIXTURE. ON A FURNACE, WHEN ITS COLD OUT, THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD IS ASKING FOR HEAT AND THE DIAPHRAM IN THE GAS VALVE IS HUMMING OR VIBRATING, IF YOUR WEATHER HAS BEEN IN THE 40TYS IT COULD BE HIGH PRESSURE TO THE FIXTURE,FIREPLACE.AS FAR AS THE RATTLE, GRAB THE BLOWER WITHOUT TAKING IT OUT AND SHAKE IT FIRST, IT COULD HAVE A PIECE OF WOOD OR ASHES ON THE SQUIRRELL CAGE.

Make sure the bolts holding the motor are tight and there is nothing hitting the motor.
If this is all good then most likely the bearings are starting to go on the motor.

You may have cleaned it too good. There may be some debris in the outlet where the gas comes out, and this may be preventing a good flow of gas after it's lit with the blower on.

Sounds like the fan motor is on the way out. Pull it and replace it.
