I am the one that is sapposed to get child support and i went to court and agreed to have it lowered so that he would have mor money to do things with her, My mistake , he never pays anyway and does nothing with her if he even sees her. But here in Ca. they base it on the income. Make sure you take your check stubs with you and by law they cannot take more than 50% . But if you handle yourself proper and let the judge know that the child is your first priority but that your income has gone down he will modify it. I know that the judge wants to hear that the child is first because that is what he asked the father in my case, he told him that his car payment and house payment was first and the judge said no , the child is first then your car payment etc. New York may be different.Call a paralegal they are very cheap and know as much as an attorney they can help. i got advise for 25 dollars.

If you have to move out of your house in order to pay your child support then that is what you are going to have to do. The only way you can get your support reduced (in the State of NY) is to have PROOF of income, which in most cases are your w/2s since they show ALL income. I suggest you suck up and deal with the fact that you have to pay child support because afterall YOU unzipped your fly and dropped your drawers in order to create that child.

listen to me, this not about your freaking ex girlfriend, "THE KID" is your child and you are being irresponsible and lazy not wanting to support "the kid" you need to grow up, go to school, find a career that will all help "the kid"'s financial being
