I have a problem with saddam hussein being executed. Americans stormed into his country, forced him into hiding, captured him, took over his country, and is going to leave Iraq in the middle of a civil war. I know Saddam was a bad person but that gave us no right to to that to him. Think of all the other dictators in the world right now. I don't see Americans storming North Korea with thousands of troops. North Koreas dictator has killed tens of thousands of Koreans and is twice as ruthless as Saddam ever was. Also, there is proof that North Koreans have weapons of mass destruction. Iraq never did! But wait a minute, oh i get it now. North Korea is friends with China. We wouldn't want to upset the Chinese would we now. I guess it is better that we kill dictators that are defensless and accuse them of hiding weapons they never had in the first place. Can someone explain to me why we did something so stupid?!

DOING the arithmetic is an imprecise venture. The largest number of deaths attributable to Mr. Hussein's regime resulted from the war between Iraq and Iran between 1980 and 1988, which was launched by Mr. Hussein. Iraq says its own toll was 500,000, and Iran's reckoning ranges upward of 300,000. Then there are the casualties in the wake of Iraq's 1990 occupation of Kuwait. Iraq's official toll from American bombing in that war is 100,000 — surely a gross exaggeration — but nobody contests that thousands of Iraqi soldiers and civilians were killed in the American campaign to oust Mr. Hussein's forces from Kuwait. In addition, 1,000 Kuwaitis died during the fighting and occupation in their country.

I personally have never agreed with this war from day one... I agree that we shouldn't have done what we did... I listened to Bush's ultimatum to Saddam and knew we were getting ourselves into a heap of trouble.. however Saddam was not executed for the WMD.. he had a trial for War Crimes... he had a trial, he was convicted, and was executed all by Iraq... .. we apparently are not going to leave the country in the middle of a civil war.. we are still there and are going to send another 20,000+ out there... but no I agree what we did to start this war was not right.. we should have done more in Afghanistan, we should have went to Pakistan, and we should have continued fighting the war against Terrorism on the people that actually attacked our country.. not Saddam....

I agree ,it is very simple, Saddam loyals were set to release proof of some kind of evidence about, Bush implicity in 911. Saddam knew too much, and was a direct political threat to Bush admin. Also the war was based on lies, and to rid the world of any evidence, or contradiction he had to be killed. I strongly disagree with the actions of our government. I think Saddam was no angel, but in the famous words of a man who lived about 2000 years ago"let him who has no sin cast the first stone" my guess Bush is a lot closer to hell than Saddam is. Besides Bush wouldn't know the truth if it feel into the empty space between his ears, and besides Bush is an idiot, I will be suprised if his IQ has ever gotten over 7.1

one at a time. next Korea or Iran or ???...
We asked Saddam to show us he had no weapons of mass destruction. He said no. so we went and looked. Now we have a battlefield...Iraq. That's better than the USA. we have stuff there near the trouble area. We can turn our guns around to Iran in a flash.

Because Bush needed something that showed "progress" before his State of the Union address requesting more troops for Iraq. Also, don't be mistaken by assessing government action in a moral manner. Black and white, good and evil logic doesn't apply in this type of scrutiny. Political agendas themselves are acts concealed in anonymity. No one but those involved truly know. Bush is not the "lone gunman." That would be giving him too much credit. There are people involved directly and indirectly who shape the outcome of these events-some are known and understood-others are not.

To call it stupid or not is not is a call anyone outside this privilaged group can assess. Unfortunatley, this war and its outcomes thusfar have been allowed by a nation who blindly accepts it as a matter of black and white, good vs evil, west vs Islam. It is this ignorance that has allowed the constituency to sign off on Bush's actions from 01' til the recent 06' fall elections. They still don't get it though. They only changed direction because of the simple, observable loss of our troops-they are not examining the true nature of a government left unchecked-which reeks havoc both at home and abroad. It's a gray area issue. All conventions of dualism are thrown out the window in this case.

If you wanted to argue the death penalty, I would say you are right. A society has a right to protect itself from violators, but it does not have the right to make them punishable by death-no one can make that call over another human being. God save their souls.

I so totally agree. I mean, one minute, they're all like, we're waiting to here when Saddam will be executed. Then, all of a sudden_BOOM! He's dead. I think they let him go or someone died for him or something. I mean, they're former ruler is "dead". They would surely have footage for everyone to see. Like they say, you gotta see to believe it. I really think somethings going on. Let's see what happens.

The UN gave him a chance to leave that country or adhere to UN weapons inspections. He chose the road he took. He knew what the consequences were when he thumbed his nose at the world. He got exactly what he asked for.

Maybe because he was a Murdering, Thieving, Power hungry Madman....We did NOT kill Sadam. The Iraqi Government sentenced him to death for his crimes against his country..We just lent some assistance.
Iraq did and still does have WMD...I challange you to find them in that vast wasteland.
