Does the original colourway on Nike Air Force 1 matter if you're going to customise the sneaker?

I'm intrested in cutomising some nike air force 1 mid. However the original colour is black and blue but I'm hoping to paint them either a silver, green and purple colourway or silver, blue and orange. I read that you should use acetone on the shoes first to remove the original factory finish. Would it make any difference if I bought white or black sneakers if I was to do so?
Also where in the UK can I get hold of Angelus Leather Paint?

as for the colorway, you can paint on any shoe, you may just have to add more layers. You'd have to be able to cover the original color.

only remember to purchase NON-SLIP. Non Slip and Non Skid are different.i purchase my artwork footwear at Payless for $20.00. Walmart and footwear for Crews also are large places to purchase them. In my chain eating position you should signal a uniform coverage that contains non slip footwear. there are a variety of of circumstances of people no longer getting workmans comp because they were no longer following coverage even as they slipped. It hasnt exceeded off in my eating position yet in my chain it has. So purchase your non slip footwear!!
