I have 5 medium sized plants in my 10 gallon and my fish love it. I also have two little cave things. Is it too crowded?

They are plastic plants, not real.

no this seems perfect.. as long as your fish do have some open space they should be fine .. you are actually increasing your fishies lives.. the plants make them feel secure and reduce stress and their chance to just die

In order to tell for sure, you'd have to test the carbon dioxide (CO2) levels at night and the oxygen (O2) levels in the middle of the day when lights have been on for a while. That equipment can be expensive, though. It also depends on how much or what kind of light you're using, water temperature, whether there is air being introduced into the tank, etc.

But seeing as how your fish love it, and aren't flipping around at the water's surface, you should be OK. If you're concerned you could get a little airstone and air pump (if you don't already have one) from the pet store and run that.
