I am old enough that I no longer work on socially acceptable. I work on self acceptable, some days with more success then on other days. The social part has just worked itself out in a fashion, but maybe I am not as social as you would like to be. I don't know.
My daughter is probably closer to your age..an she is trying to do the wife, mommy, student, housekeeper, friendship...everything, all at the same time. She gets very frustrated and tired. I wish I could...help make it more sane and say 90% of the sh** that you are worried about, won't mean a thing in less then a year. But how do you tell you tell someone to stop trying so hard to make their life better? You sometimes leave the really good things behind so that you can get another plastic box with lights and noises.
I don't think I have an answer for you, other then I have tried both, and would recommend self acceptable any day. The mind overrun thing tends to correct at that point. Warmest wishes.

If your desire is to be socially acceptable - you must have self control. Watch the Jane Austin movies.

The answer is in your question. Just take the time to think about it. Reverse your thought patten and the juxtaposition of your question.
