Everyone is afraid of dying to some degree. All any of us can do is enjoy the journey of life. We are here today. No one knows what tomorrow will bring.
If you are an 80 year old person who, from your other question is worried about being overweight, and from your answer to a question, you also have a good degree of computer literacy, I would suggest just be happy and let tomorrow take care of itself.

I honestly don't know what awaits you, so it's not right for me to try and guess. Anyways, I'm 13 (Almost 14), and I've had this thought before. I know just how you feel, it's sort of scary isn't it?
I have to say that there are a lot of elders in my family and not one of them is scared of death. They all are just fed up with life in the first place. For some people, 80 years old is not old. People have lived to be well over 100, it may not be your time yet. But, I can tell you that it's not painfull, and there is nothing to worry about.

I am a retired firefighter/paramedic from Los Angeles. I have seen hundreds of deaths. I have always been interested in what happens after death. I have asked many people who had arrested and we bought back about their experience of death.
I never got a very good answer until it happened to me.
I feel through a roof at a big fire. I broke my back, lost my air pack and was buried for a while. This resulted me going into full arrest, no breathing or heart beat.
I was pulled from the ruble by other firefighters and resuscitated.
They told me I was clinically dead for about 10 minutes.
I remember quite a bit of what happened when I was dead.
I remember thinking I know I am dead but I don't know why. Then I realized I would come back from the after life.
At this time I made a conscious decision to try to bring back as much memory of this event as I could.
This is what I bought back....
What awaits you and I after we die is so awesome and so different than anything we can relate to in our earthly experience that it is impossible to describe. There are no words for it, it cant be described using our language, or emotions. It is not about seeing, feeling, or any other experience we have had hear on earth.
I have tried to discover a good analogy for it but I just can't, it is too far beyond our reality here on earth. I keep thinking of Einsteins theory of relativity being explained to a piece of sand....but even that does not do it justice.
The second thing I bought back from being over there is this.
This world is not our home. We come from there. Why we are here I dint know.
So, my friend, relax and enjoy the rest of your life.
You will be going home soon. And so will all of us.

The only thing you should be afraid is of your own self putting limitations to what you can experience. It's hard to explain what you can find, in the other side, but I know is a much different experience as well that you can't really expect that went you get there and if you are able to become conscious of the next world, this world this material world in which you and me and other are to day, it's virtually nothing. The Human experience is the first step into a much bigger condition, that God have prepared for all of us, just be faithful I know for certain you will not be disappointed, by any means.<<>

I don't know, but I can tell you what I feel will happen and what I've been told. According to my mother we'll be surrounded by our friends and family. According to my priest all our pets will be around to greet us and take us up to heaven, where we'll be around loved ones and have a connection to a wonderful environment of peace and happiness. I personally think all of the above, but picture heaven as almost a summer camp ground, with streams and trees and bonfires at night filled with my past friends, pets and loved ones. And I also believe that if we want to go back, we can. I remember readying a beautiful saying, which goes something like this (I'm afraid I don't remember the exact quote):
"When we die, and people are waving goodbye, others stand waiting for us at the opposite shore waving hello and shouting 'welcome back home!'"

Wow - I don't run into many 80-year-old individuals online. As to dying - I don't know what awaits us, if anything. I think that's a question that everyone has to answer for themselves. We're all afraid of the unknown - it's sort of a survival skill for us - so I think it's normal to wonder about it. I think, though, that while you're alive - which obviously you are - that concentrating on here-and-now is what matters. I personally think that someone who spends their life worrying about dying isn't really living as fully as they could, and that really *is* a waste.

Why do you consider that 80 years... older one! There are still people live beyond 120 years happily!
And no one ask you to die sooner either!
When the right time arrives, things will happen by its own accord without any friction in you.
And remember, in our residence, we would have seen the younger pregnant women, used to get afraid, for giving birth to a child for the first few months. But, when they are nearing the due dates, they would become more calm and normal, and the mother-nature would take care of them, for their easy delivery!
Yes, when the right time comes,
you will indeed invite death by yourself, as your dear guest waiting at door steps, with more happiness and peace! And the Guest will take you to the other world on his wings without any friction or pain for you!

I have seen many elderly people die including my mother as I have sat with them. I must say that I have never seen anyone appear to be frightened. They seem to turn inward in their thoughts where the world no longer matters. From what I have seen they left this earth peacefully and unafraid. However, don't dwell on dying too much and try to enjoy the time you have left if at all possible. If you are in fairly good health you could be here for quite a bit longer.
I hope this helps.

Have no fear, the bible says in Acts 24:15 that a marvellous hope await those who have passed away:
"Do not marvel as this, the hour is coming which all those in the memorial tomb (aka God's memory) will be ressurected.."
Congratulation on being so old. You must have accumulated a lot of wisdom and experiences in life and realized that life is too short for everything. As we reached the end of our life, it is the small things we treasure the most, a loving kiss from your grandchildren, the sound of flowing water, the beautifully colored sunset, the dynamic ocean, the simplistic beauty of seashells, is it not?
I'm currently 21 and helping others to learn about the bible truth of Jehovah God (Psalm 83:18). Human die because we inherited sin from Adam (Romans 5:12). But despite our frailities and imperfection, we can still come to know and have a relationship with Jehovah, our creator. The bible is such a book that reveals to us about his qualities and dealings with men, also the wonderful promise of eventual vindication of God's Sovereignty that satan profaned in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-5), as well as the destruction of wicked opposers against God that caused so much suffering and pain on this earth at God's Battle of Armageddon. The eventual completion of God's original promise for sinful mankind to live both in a paradisaical condition and to reach perfection----
Let his flesh become fresher than in youth.’”—Job 33:21-25.
yes, old age and the painful effect will be gone forever.
as Jehovah as promised it! “You well know . . . that not one word out of all the good words that Jehovah your God has spoken to you has failed. They have all come true.”—Joshua 23:2-8, 14.
Why not start a bible study with Jehovah's Witnesses?
You're warmly welcomed in the congregation meeting in your area, you can also contact Watchtower.org for arranging a bible study!!

If you believe in Jesus and have asked Jesus into your heart and have been baptised (immersed in water) and honestly tried to live a good life from that point on then you are entitled to go to heaven according to the Bible. Since no one has died and came back to life (since Biblical times) we can only be sure of the promises that God made in the Bbile - that's all we have as a guarantee, so if you are worried and haven't done these things, then I hope you will do them my friend.
John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life."
Acts 2:38 says..."repent (turn away from sin) and be baptised everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission (removal) of your sins, then you shall inherit eternal life."
Good luck in your decision and may God bless you.
Please feel free to post more on this subject if you have questions and I will try to answer them.
Best wishes.
