One of the assignments that one of my professors gave the class for this weekend was to e-mail him and let him know how our day was going...

..he's either really really lonely, or this is a trick and we're all gonna get made fun of tomorrow...

No, I haven't... My one professor likes to email me about BS too. I can't wait for the day he sends me something racy and I get to blackmail him for sexual harassment, can you say A?

This could be tricky . How many times have you had this prof? Could be just checking to see if you follow directions. How much are you willing to do to get a grade? What ever you do never never say " Those who can't do teach !" Don't forget to spell check !

Is it an English professor? Maybe he is grading your writing skills. I doubt he is lonely.

I would concoct a great story, tell him you are smoking crack as you type... about to hit the streets to sell yourself to pay for your habit and the skyrocketing cost of post secondary education..

Again, maybe honesty is the better approach, depending on his sense of humor.

You have no idea what his motives are until he tells you. Go with the flow, it's not hurting anyone or anything.
