This is causing much confusion on the web. AVG isn't shutting down at all....they are simply upgrading their free anti-virus software to a newer version, and won't be supporting their older version with updates. So, just go to the below link and download the new 7.5 version and install it in place of the older version.

It is NOT shutting down !!! You only need to upgrade to the new free AVG 7.5 version as version 7.1 expires in Feb. Follow the instructions at this link, especially if you have 7.1 on your system.

i dont think its closng.. the better option is free-av.com it has like 95% detection where avg detects some 80%
