Umm.. i could say mixture the sand and salt mutually and placed the salt in heat/warm water and enable it dissolve the salt.... then filter out the liquid out leaving the sand at the back of, or employing a sieve to pour the water/dissolved salt via and go away the sand at the back of and set the sand aside (rinse sand to get all salt out), and then evaporate the water and it will go away the salt at the back of. ta-da!

I like David's answer.

My O -chem prof (back in the day) had to drink benzadehyde (flavoring in maraschino cherries). Then collect his urine. Then recrystallize the benzoic acid from his urine. So maybe there is something to eating it?

But alas how do we determine the salt?

you will mixture everything in water.......you will filter, and the sand will be in the filter.....than the benzoic acid will not mixture in the water and you can separete them in extration...than you will evaporate water, and you will have just salt...
