Does anyone know of any way to put a password on single files? With or without a program would work. Using Windows XP btw. Thanks.

People have already mentioned some very good programs, especially AxCrypt. I use it myself. Another program I like to use is 2BrightSpark's EncryptOnClick. It is a free utility which adds itself to the Windows Shell. All you have to do is right click any file to bring up the contextual menu. There will be an option to encrypt the file. EncryptOnClick uses 256 bit AES encryption, the encryption used by the National Security Agency (NSA).

There is an excellent tutorial for AxCrypt if you decide to use it over EncryptOnClick at http://jameser.blogspot.com/2006/07/tip-11-simple-file-encryption-for.html

Download Site:
1. EncryptOnClick http://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/
2. AxCrypt http://sourceforge.net/projects/axcrypt/

There's a program called AxCrypt that my boyfriend uses... you can also encrypt it using Window's file encryption but that's only on XP pro.

I have recommended Cryptainer LE to many clients and they are very happy with it. The program is free, easy to learn, and best of all it works. Read about it and download from this link:

Good Luck,

Yeah, go up to "Tools", then go to "Options" at the very bottom of this drop down box; click it. Then go to "Security", click it, then the first box, that reads, "Password to Open", but your password in there; then another box will pop up, and you put the password in again. Remember your password; once you do this.....there's no redoing it!!!!
