You need to subtract -3 from 8, which is 11, and then divide 11 by 2, which is 5.5, and then either add 5.5 to -3 (2.5) or subtract 5.5 from 8 (2.5).

Having trouble with math? Draw it out. (That helps in Calculus and Physics also) Draw a horizontal line. Put marks on the line and number the marks from -3 to 8 (don't forget 0). Then, find the midpoint.

I could do it, but then you won't be as smart as I am.

11/2 = 5.5
-3 + 5.5 = 2.5

The answer is b. 2.5.
