No. It's a fictional book and movie, with the primary intent of taking your money.

Actually the whole book is very badly researched and almost complete and utter stuff from male cows.

The bit I like best (run a close second by the suggestion that Walt Disney POST DEATH made the Little Mermaid as an allegory of Mary Magdelene) was the bit when they where trying to get into a church that wasn't yet open. It opened at 8 o'clock or something and they were there at 7. Well Dan Brown tells how one guy shows the guard an "embossed card" showing that he was a "knight of the realm" and gains entry that way:
1. Knights are NOT "of the realm", peers (that's barons and above) are "peers of the realm" but knights are not "of the realm".
2. These "embossed cards" do not exist
3. The guard did not give the correct reply, which is:
"I don't care if you're the Duke of Bleedin' Edinburgh: you're not coming in here until 8! Now bugger off before I call the police"

Well it did create few ripples in the Vatican. I personally dont rule out the book altogether as a matter of fiction. Its understandable that the Bible is not the complete version by itself. There were plenty of other books which were are not part of the Bible as we know it today. So understandably the church at the time would have done a well edited version to what suited them best. Let us also not forget that the Church was extremely powerful the years the bible was compiled. I also dont believe Judas was as bad as portrayed. If he had to do it then why was he made a disciple in the first place? Someone had to betray and it was him if we're to believe that it was all to happen as said by the prophets hundreds of years before. A lot of it has been exposed with the 'Gospel of Judas' when it was discovered recently.

Even today we find the media only showing us what they think is right.. tomorrow history books would also be written accordingly...

No but the sect it deals with is real. And the whole Jesus and Mary Magdalene blood line thing is something that the sect does believe. And people do speculate that Mary Magdalene is in the Last Supper by Da Vinci. So basically, the story-line is fictional but it is based on several theories. Make sense?

It opened allot of eyes for those who don't follow the bible and turned allot of heads for those who do. Seeing as how the higher ups of the Catholic church reacted, I think it touched a few nerves that we aren't supposed to know about. I also noticed how quickly the Vatican dropped the topic when popularity of the book went South. If it were all false, they would have been pressing about lies and character assassination. I think they were happy when the book sales starting slowing down and decided to pretend it never happened. Who knows, I'll bet there are certain parts of it that are true but mainly, it's a good story.

I dunno whether it's true or not but all I can say is that it's a lovely book with a superb story. And Dan Brown himself acknowledges that it's fiction. The truth only Leonardo Da Vinci can reveal. Best Of Luck!!!

have you read it or seen the movie based on it? well the author himself said its fiction. Fiction about the future may become true but about the past cannot be. Theor are lots of errors in his books like numbers of rooms and many other such imformation printed on his book and movie.. if you dont believe me find it out yourself, I m telling you its fun to know the truth....

Not entirely, it is a work of fiction. Dan Brown, himself, acknowledges that some of the "facts" presented are exagerated or culled from more than once source and presented as though they came from a single entity.

Does not matter even if it is true. Take it as - To err is human. He also was human. We also have erred making a GOD out of human. If we had kept him as a leader or teacher but still a human, we could have accepted everything that he did being a human.

considering the fear level it generated from the vatican, the jesuits and opus dei, it certainly must not be wholly fictitious, eh? considering how much time the leadership of these august organizations took off from molesting attractive young men, and working on their counter reformation agenda, and planning new shopping mall complexes, in order to attack this "work of fiction", perhaps a grain of truth is contained within its covers? many researchers feel that jesus did survive the "crucifixion". his death was "faked" using a "potion" designed by his essene "family", masters of magick and mystery. subsequently he travelled and gained more wisdom and "power" via initiatory experiences in other lands. why would he not marry. nothing in judaism prohibits such, and its "culture" is understood to encourage it, especially for a rabbi. etc., etc. the one thing certain in the whole drama is that the church fears losing its terminally temporal hold on vast wealth and power, and will combat any such threat by any and all means at its disposal.
