It is probably from their "Classification"

Goliath beetles are members of the insect order Coleoptera, family Scarabaeidae, subfamily cetoniinae, tribe goliathini, genus Goliathus.

Believe it or not, there are people out there that that's all they do for their job. Is to sit around classifying and categorizing various animals and insects.

Not only is the Goliath beetle one of the largest of all scarab beetles, it is one of the the largest insects in the world! There are a few insects that may be longer, but the Goliath is probably larger and heavier.

Weird huh?

Goliath Beetles are the LARGEST beetles and they are partly named after Goliath who was not a mythical character. "David and Goliath" is not just a "story" people! And they are also called that from classification.

As my younger brother says, "'Cause it's a big beetle!"

Goliath, from the Bible, was a giant. Perhaps that has something to do with it. Check wikipedia!

I agree with KitKat. It's huge, like the mythical giant.
