this morning, i just saw a videotape of him saying that most white peopel were not decent people, a small minority of whites were decent, so that means the majority were not, at least in 1967. I wasn't around back then so he wasn't insulting me personally.

Untrue; you need to pay more attention to nuances of language, and you need to recognize that in 1967, many white people were not decent when it came to racial issues.

Where did you get that idea? Dr. King never attacked people verbally or otherwise. He said he had a dream that one day his four little children would grow up in a society where they would be judged, not by the color of thier skin, but by the content of their character.

Dr. King opposed the institutionalized racism that was being practiced in our country and still is being practiced. He said the gurantees of the government for civil rights of all people was like a check written by a bankrupt society. (I'm paraphrasing here.)
A quote I enjoy a lot from Dr. King is: "There is nothing in all the world more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. You have a moral obligation to be intelligent."
I believe that applies here. There were MANY whites who walked side by side with Dr. King in trying to secure civil rights for all Americans. Why don't you celebrate this great man's day by going to the library and taking out a few books on the movement or some of the books on his speeches. That would be more useful than trying to stir up racist sentiments by misquoting the man.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. NEVER said that. He belived that most people were inherntly decent, but due to the view of society at that time, were not "free" to do the decent thing.
