If that had been in his manifesto I wonder how many of us would have voted for a New Labour 'police state' ? X Pollit Bureau eat your hearts out - or come over here and get British Nationality so you can carry on your good work now the Soviet Union has collapsed!

As with most people I suspect, my first reaction was one of horror at the Orwellian logic of Mr.Blurr's vain-glorious control-freakmanship.....the man is becoming increasingly paranoid and close to certification.

Then I saw the counter-side to all this and began to laugh.

Considering that there isn't a single government department data base which is either up to date or which actually works, it would be a constant comedy of errors and misinformation.

With any luck, they would try to extract more taxation from the dead, and less from the living.

Of course, it's not long ago that Mr Blurr was targetting the unborn: an idea which I believe is now still-born after disquiet among the rank and file Labour supporters, whoever they may still be.

With a Labour back-bench which now seem to resemble the extras in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" as they stomp in perfect time to their ghoulish and increasingly haunted leader; one may only hope that the un-dead will eventually be buried for all time by a rather more alive electorate at the next general election.

I wouldn't care, I am not a Conservative voter, but with the living-dead running the country, and the almost dead now representing the Liberals, I really wouldn't care if the conservatives swept into power tomorrow. Nothing could be worse than what we've got now.

I am sure I have said it too often but New Labour is just a clever disguise for the old socialist Labour Party. After nearly ten years all the old traits are coming to the surface, tax and spend(waste). Jobs for the boys (this is common to all political parties) One of the primary goals of socialism is control of the population in every aspect they can think of. ID cards,DNA testing all just part of the machinery. We can only be thankful that most of the Labour Ministers are so incompetent it has taken all this time get us to where we are.

And he claims to have a mandate to govern. That's highly debatable, and he certainly wouldn't have if he had told us what he was planning.
He should merge all the government databases with his backside.

Anything Blair proposes is certain to end in chaos, as has everything else he introduced in the past ten years.
