Keep in mind that if your pot is too big, the plant will have too much room and will not grow strong. A plant needs to have a pot that fits it's size.... sorta like putting a baby in a king size bed....
If this is the case, repot your plant in a more appropriate size pot. You may also need to use small stakes to tie the stems to if they really are weak.
Vitamins and minerals will also help, as will making sure your plant has draining space. I suggest putting small rocks in the bottom of the pot before putting in the dirt.

Many plants can increase the strength of their stems by being handled. Just touch the plants on a daily basis, if the plants were in their natural habitat they would be blown by wind and probably brushed by animals. You can also aim a fan at the plant for short periods, place the fan no closer than 3 feet and leave it on low for about 10-15 minutes. Try this one or two times a week.
If the plant is delicate you can stake the stems on a plant but I feel it's best of you can avoid having to do this.

If the stem isn't to large/long you can turn it daily so it doesn't grow one way into the sun. Remember plants grow into the direction of the sun/light.

Depends on the plant. Some plants should to be tied to stakes, others need pruning to keep them from getting gangly.
