India is a big country. I wanted to go there but do not know where to go. Wish to see taj majal but I might end up in kurdistan.
Maybe you promote a specific place in India, what does it give to a foreign visitor, and most important How to go there.

I depends if you are talking about national or international tourism. I am not from India, but I like to travel, so I just would give you some tips as a tourist, of what makes me willing to visit a place.
Depending on that, it would be by placing stands in places of interest (parks, malls, museums..) filled with brochures of touristic places. People who go to any of those places usually are looking for more or would like to know similar places to visit.
Sending touristic information and posters to embassies, travel agencies, bus stations, airports, schools, etc.
Publicity on the Internet. A good web site with lots of information: fares, hotels, facilities, services, transportation (today most people look for that info on line).
Interesting History and Geography classes at school to make Indian students eager to know and see those national places.
Providing good facilities, friendly services, reasonable fares and personal safety.

What he said must be put into practise by all of us.
Every Indian must be a 'Brand Ambassador' for abundant Natural Beauty , Wonderful Traditions, Great Heritage sites and marvellous spots in our Great Country that would really enthrall any foreigner.
Our Government in its turn must make the uimigration rules simpler and instruct their officials to me polite andcourteous to the tourists both Indian & Foreign.
Let us together improve in our Country the Socal Hygine & Cleanliness , Orderliness and Efficiency of our System,......
GOD has blessed us with a beautiful Country. Let us make it enchanting and peaceful for all those who visit the country and those who live here. Jai Hind!

The GOVT shall come out some attractive schemes like ...Pay for one take one free (even for other tahn your official spouse/children) in case of Govt servants ...Make low budgeted high quality accomodation at tourist places (like one from TATA ventures),Give more publicicty,Make provate partcicipation for Tourism development with more cocessions,Develop proper infrastructure for all tourism places,..etc

what do u mean promote tourism...india is full of tourists. we just went there last year and its the most spectacular and beautiful place on this planet. it felt like heaven....we met so many families from europe who were there on vacation...!

YOU ALL have placed an exceedingly bitter and undesirable style in our mouths approximately india ...pakistan and so on. .......maximum come to our international places ..properly invade ...and handle us all like crap ....do no longer even talk our languages ...walk around doing ur own way of existence crap in our area ! Set temples up and blah blah ! i've got had no longer something yet undesirable reviews with indians and function genuinely no desire to circulate there! as a thank you to get human beings to return and forth would be very tricky!!
