I would purchase a home (condo or townhouse if you're single and don't want a single family), especially if the real estate market in the area were decent.
If you're making good money, then you're probably paying "good" income taxes. The interest on a mortgage is tax deductible. Also, you'd be building equity in your property. You could still get a roommate and have them pay rent, that would help offset expenses and your mortgage.

I would get a roommate for 1-2 years, that way you save half the rent for your downpayment on the condo and end up with better terms and a lower mortgage payment in the long run.

I think it would depend on the situation. If you've already got enough people in your life and you'd value time alone than I'd get my own place. If social interaction is something that you need though then I would consider getting a roommate. Good luck!
