The women of the great depression had to sew and mend clothing, and do their laundry by hand. They made their soap from bacon fat. The women spent most of their time over a hot wooden stove cooking. They also had to do all the cleaning; such as cleaning the chicken coop, outhouses, as well as their household chores.

I found that to use in my report but I still need some information so I'll have my 3 pages. Can someone please tell me some additional facts so I can use it. Please!! As you see I'm doing my own work I just need some help.

The main responsibility for women was keeping the family together. If they were lucky, the father had some kind of a job.

The hardest thing was "pinching pennies." A sandwich was one thin piece of meat on a slice of bread. Money was so hard to come by that even milk had to be "watered down"--even for children beyond breast-feeding age. There was no day care; almost no women worked outside the home. Many women made the family's clothes.

NB Only the upper part of an outhouse is cleaned. The rest is a very, very deep hole that gets filled with excrement until it seeps into the water supply.

NB I used to teach English. Better teachers are more concerned with content than with length. This does not mean that a one-page paper will cut it. But don't be afraid to go with 2.5 if it is **really** good, or 4 - 4.5 it you have all good info and no filler. A page citing your sources (as few as they may be) after your essay may help. And, no, that page is not counted as a page of the 3.

Best wishes.

In some developing country like Philippines, women still do the same thing like washing clothes by hand, cook in a wood stove (some very poor), iron clothes, sew and mend clothing.

There is a famous woman from the "Great Depression" that few know about. Her name was Fannie Sellers and she was murdered in Pennsylvania for trying to get children away from a mob:
Kill Fannie Sellers
August 1919 In West Newton a Pennsylvania Police Officer said, “Kill the God Damn Whore,” and as Fannie Sellers lay on the ground a bullet was pumped into her. Fannie had tried to get children away form a mob. (Nothing appears to have happened to the Police Officer per the history books.)
Imprison the Heroine
August 1919 After Fannie was murdered in West Newton a woman from West Newton spoke out and she was imprisoned.
Then there is Irene: February 23, 1931 Irene Schroeder, a 22-year-old white female waitress, and Glenn Dague, a 35-year-old white insurance agent, were executed by electric chair for shooting a policeman in Allegheny County.
Another woman you may wish to study is Mother Jones.

Food was rationed.

They used a scrub board for that laundry you mentioned.

People only listened to radio because, as you know, there was no television.

You may want to look up telephone service. There was a time when people had party lines rather than "private lines".

People didn't have jobs and were losing homes.

(I know that's not much, but maybe it will take you in a direction.)
