the wire is broken and i need to get the switch off to repair

A thin blade down the small slot at the flat side of the switch button will enable the switch to be removed followed by a screw to remove the housing. I guess your flex has broken at the entry?? WARNING!! You will probably destroy the latch trying to release it! You won't know how to lever it untill you have it out..

If you have to ask then you should take it to an engineer for servicing. One mistake from you and PUFF! up you go in smoke. Unless of course your trying to electrocute your wife. lol.
