My Dell computer is around 3-4 years old. So many programs have been installed, it is slowing my computer, so the other night, I uninstalled a lot of unused programs. I am now worried I have uninstalled something important. Certain functionality on some websites have been lost. I tried to do a system retsore, and when I go into this, the window that comes up is blank. Please help?!

The more information you can give us the better:

My advise is that Dell have amazing technical support and you can talk to a Dell technition online in real time.

Head over to http://www.dell.com

He/She will most likley look at the factory settings of your pc and recommkend where to get the missing software. This again can be found on the Dell download page.

If Dell can not help... or complete the help we need you to try and remember what you unistalled or what is happening as a result.

Internet pages that are not running fully may require an updated add on:

Download:

Java - version 10
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Adobe Flash player:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BIOW

Which should both help...

Another thing to try is to increase your RAM.... by buying a new memory card.
Deleting prgrams is unpractical. Doing Disk defragments is a more common method of speeding up pcs.

Well then you need to make a list of programs you uninstalled and perhaps reinstall them.

Personally I don't recommend uninstalling many programs at once - as you don't know how the system will react. Try uninstalling one or 2 per day and see how it affects the system.

Also, having many programs installed doesn't normally slow your computer, however having a large temporary internet files folder does. Along with a large temp folder, a Hard drive which hasn't been defragmented etc. What can make your system dramatically slow is the amount of background programs you have running and other programs which run at startup.

Also Dell aren't earning themselves a good reputation these days so thats another point to consider if you buy another computer in the future..

HTH!

if you have a dell and its not very old you can restore it back to a date you pick. You can also when you first turn it on watch for the screen in between the start and the password and when it comes up press F8 and it will go back to when you first bought it. You have to remember all the passwords cause it will erase all them to. it will even take yahoo off (everything) Just have to install everything again. good luck

The reason u get a white screen is either u have a virus or u might have deleted the system restore files. there is no way to get such files back once u delete it yourself or a virus does it.
