Because he's Glaswegian, and Glaswegians don't like anyone from any big town near Glasgow. It would even apply to Manchester, but Ferguson is from Glasgow too. Graeme Souness however is from Edinburgh. Sad that it should work that way, but it does.
Btw I hope Newcastle get up the league a lot quicker than you get to level 3.
