Well, it will not be the same.
I moved away for 4.5 years, and while my friends were still friends, I missed out on 4.5 years of antics and shenanigans.
It took a while to feel like I fit in again, but eventually it did.
One year is a lot less than the 4.5 I took, so it might not be that bad at all.
With the wonders of instant messaging and file sharing for photos it should be quite easy to keep in touch.
Get a yahoo email address before you leave and tell all your new friends what it is. That way you do not have to rely on not knowing what email you will get from your ISP.
Good Luck!
I know it is not easy but it will all work out in the end! You will see.

Everything changes, don't worry. I remember when my best friend moved away 2 years ago, but it didn't stop us from talking on the phone and getting together whenever we could! Now i got the computer and IM, yeah! And at the school, you still have the friends you had before you moved, if not, its not hard to make new ones!

if you have a cell phone, get all your friends' numbers! take your time, you still have months and months.
but time goes fast when you are having fun. =)
so try to have as MUCH as fun as possible, because when you leave, you might not be coming back for a very long time.
so give yourself and your bffs the time of their lives!
=]
trust me and when you leave that place, you will be leaving with a satisfied smile on your face :)
when you get back home(original) in august, try not be so different and make your old friends realize that you have changed so much.
try to make them realize you haven't changed, and if you did, you did it for good. :)
if they dont appreciate or accept you, then pull your head up high and let them realize that change can be good.
=)
if you want to e-mail me for any other advice, e-mail me at lorealfashizzle@yahoo.com

good luck!

If they are really your friends they would still be your friend when you come back and for your other friends you can still keep contact on the phone or internet.
