An adverb is what it sounds like. A mix of an ajective and a verb--it is an ajective to a verb and it describes a verb-- they usually end in ly. Slowly, quickly, and very are all adverbs. very is one, because it tells that the very is done often or in great quantity.

an adverb is a word that describes a verb.
for instance: He drove quickly. Quickly is the adverb because it describes the verb "drove"
Snow fell softly. Softly is the adverb because it describes the verb"fell"
Adverbs are great because they take a blah sentence and add life to it.

A verb tells what is done, and adverb tells how its done.
Example: "He moved slowly from one point to the next."
What he did is the verb "moved"
How he did it is the adverb "slowly"
I believe "very" is an adjective.
Hope this helps!
