Enlightenment has nothing to do with it. For whatever reason, no qualified female ever made an honest attempt to be elected to the presidency.
If a female candidate does pop up in the next campaign, I hope the people will vote for the one who they think will make the best president. I'm afraid that some will vote for a female simply because they think it's time for a woman president.
On the other hand, some may vote against a highly qualified person only because she's female.
By the way, your enlightened Pakistan removed the legally elected president at the point of a gun. I'm glad we're not that enlightened.
You know about Indera Gandi. Great enlightenment.

What does not having a female president have to do with superiority? I would like to have a good president based on their qualifications for the job, male or female.
I find it interesting that you base superiority and enlightenment solely on the gender of a Head of State. What about Margaret Thatcher, think she was an enlightened ruler?

First of all we have a President. Each state has it's own head. The one i live in it is a woman (as are many others). I am not opposed to a woman President. So far in my opinion there has not been a good one in the running.

I am answering this from Uk. We have had the revel in of a feminine "Prime Minister", As is Margaret Thatcher. She used to be "Far correct" politically, a tough line Conservative, Known through the clicking in UK because the "Iron Lady". The girl made a few very tough line selections in her tenure as Prime Minister such because the choice the reclaim the Falkland Isles, sending a venture drive to the extremes in their limits,Also referred to as Thatcher "Milk Snatcher" for Discontinuing the "loose milk" that UK schoolchildren (below 7's) got, this induced untold uproar on the time. At the time of her "Reign" as Prime Minister she used to be obvious through the loads as a Harridan or the man or woman that used to be ruining our nation, in hindsight many, many can now see that she did take a few VERY hard selections on the time, however recognize she did the correct factor on the correct time. The opinion now could be that she used to be correct and what she did appeared severe on the time but it surely labored, a person would possibly not had been so decisive. To gain knowledge of extra simply google her title, or check out it on Wikidipedia. Loads of information. We have best had this one revel in and I consider we might do with any person like her now, USA the equal I consider. We are all naughty boys who want a few of Mother's field.

Whats the big deal? Maybe thats how we stay superior! It may come up in 2008 but if Condi doesn't run it will never happen this election. Whats the difference if it's a woman, or a man as long as they can do the job???

Well part of our superiority, in our eyes is our INDEPENDENCE. What goes on elsewhere in the world political stage is irrelevant here. Using other nations as a template for what goes on here is senseless.

*not being sarcastic, i really want to know. i never knew Pakistan had a woman leader. that seems to run contrary to everything i've read about them.*

Turkey also had a female prime minister (another Musim, but secular, country that's often thought to be more sexist than ours)...I don't have an answer to your question because I always wonder this myself...let's hope for 2008!
