My buddies computer had this. It kept showing up in the windows system file even after cleansing it. He doesn't use IRC, but does use torrent programs. What level of threat is this virus and what does it do? What should he do to keep it off his system? Thanks

Some of those MIRC viruses uses the infected computer as a MIRC server. Once they have had control enough to set up a MIRC Server, they have had enough control to put a backdoor in or modify security settings or anything else. Sometimes it is best to reformat and reload.

basically the virus will access every program that connects to the internet (and nearly every program does), and then it ill let hackers download files off his pc, and if the hackers arent friendly, they can do damage to his pc forever, including reformatting it to windows 95, which is unreversible
