I would go with "talented". Even though the subject most often comes at the beginning of the sentence, in your sentence I would say that "we" in the latter part of the sentence is the subject and opposing team is the predicate. Talented describes the opposing team and would make it the predicate adjective. While arguable "opposing" could also be a predicate adjective, the way in which it is used seems to make it a noun.
