We had frezzing drizzle last night and I work 12 hours, and got mandated to stay over so didn't get off unitl 6 this morning, I did go out once and started it up. If the ignition is froze how do I unfreeze it, and is this normal for a Grand AM?

The only way I can see an ignition freezing up is if it got wet! How to get it dried out I have no idea. It is NOT NORMAL for an ignition to freeze. My next question is sometimes an ignition wont release until you put some pressure on the steering wheel (if the wheels are turned to far one way or another) If you can put you key in the ignition all the way, I would almost be as sure bet that this is the problem. If your Key don't go in, the you might want to heat the key and slowly put it in to melt the ice, then take it to a reputable mechanic or service garage and have the problem taken care of.

I need some more info. The only moving parts in most modern ignition systems are the cylinder lock and switch assembly. Non moving electrical parts do not "freeze". It could also be a relay or distributor parts. I need to know what year and motor you have to help you.

It shouldn't be frozen and is not normal for a Pontiac Grand Am. Try switching the key on and if it will not turn on, move your steering wheel left and right while attempting to switch the key on. That should do it.

you probably need a new battery; your car probably got too cold. Can you jump start it?
