Laptop lifespan?

Whats the average "lifespan" of an Apple laptop because I'm thinking of getting a new one?

P.S.- I use an Apple iBook G4 that was bought in the year 2003 but it runs on Mac OS X Tiger (i updated the OS)

According to Moore's Law, a laptop become obsolete when it is 18 months old.

I dunno about Apple but I've had my HP laptop for about 4 years. I'm thinking of getting a newer and better one though, cause of course everything you buy is outdated within a year anyway.
