Switching formulas is not recommended very often...babies stomachs are so sensitive and switching can cause some problems, if you are concerned I would speak with your pediatrician (Leave a phone message if you do not want to make an appointment) If you think the spit up is from the formula and you and your Dr. agree, then I would go with a soy based formula, this way the lactose from the cows milk will not add any problems. You can use prosoybe (Available everywhere) or look for an organic soy at your upper end grocery stores or co-op's. (You can even get Horizons organic formula which is milk based) Good luck

Make sure if you are getting Enfimil Lipil that you get the kind that says with DHA and ARA. These are supposedly ingredients that are found in breastmilk. Also if she is fussy or gassy or spitting up a lot talk to your pediatricican about changing her formula.

Honestly, I think feeding a baby formula of any kind should be considered abuse. Have you ever smelled or tasted formula that you give your baby? Would you have the stomach for it and would you want to keep it down? True, it is normal for a baby to spit up, but there is a recipe I used for my daughter when she was a baby. I know this is very old school, but it works and your not forking out so much money on formula. You take canned milk, mix it with a can of warm water and stir in 3 tblspoons of Karo syrup while the mixture is still warm. Her doctor even said this was a great way to feed her and he never saw a healthier baby.

The best formula for a baby after breastfeeding is Carnation Good Start. It is closest to mother's milk and it really does well with the baby's stomach.

My baby was in NICU for 3 weeks. I breastfed for 3 months then starting weening her off slowly. Carnation Good Start was the only thing she could stomach. I tried all the rest and they gave her alot of gas and made her irritable. She was allergic to everything else. After using Carnation Good Start, I never had many problems with constipation or colic and it blended really well into solid foods such as Oatmeal cereal, etc.

Ask your pediatrician about Carnation Good Start. See what he says. Go to their website and do some research as well. Good luck and hope this helps.

I use Enfamil Gentle Ease but they do make on called AR Lipil which is good for babies who spit up a lot. I got i for my daughter but she didn't like it so I couldn't use it but the Gentlease works really well.

When I first started using formula I was shelling out $$$ for Emfamil w/ lipids and spending close to $70 a week. It came up during a conversation with my son's pediatrician and he told me to use the WalMart brand. No joke. I bought the Parents Choice Milk-based w/ Lipids for both of my kids. It's half the price and no different than any other more expensive formula. I thought it sounded kind of ghetto at first when he told me, but both of my kids have used it and we got to save lots of money!

Try Enfmail AR. It is thickened with rice starch so it stays down better. But it is thin enough to come out of regular bottles.

I used similac with Iron. If that doesn't work, you might think about taking your baby to a pediatrition to see if the baby might have acid reflux. Good Luck:)
