The programme 'When we were Scouts' included the experiences of former Scouts & Guides and short contributions from various well known personalities. Cherie Blair was a Girl Guide and was asked if she achieved her badge for wiring a 13 amp electrical plug - her answer 'Oh yes, I can do that' and added well my husband is absolutely useless!!!!'

Grovel, grovel, tugs forelock, apologises, apologises for misspelling GAFFE - forgot to use the spell check for once!
That programme was really good for a change it showed how pathetic political correctness and the Health & Safety Executive and Laws have forced us to breed generations of kids who don't know what it is to learn about risk, how to anticipate risk and how to take risks in the name of growing up and being a responsible and aware adult. Nobody wants to be a volunteer worker with kids any more because of a minority group of child abusers.
- and NO there are very few programmes worth watching on TV in the UK - a huge percentage are now repeats and those of us of a certain age have already paid our licence fees for these programmes to be made or purchased. TV is rubbish Amazon DVD Rentals are by far a better alternative!

Anthony-P - come on Ant - of course she has changed - she said she was from a working class family in Liverpool and the Middle Class kids went to the Crosby Girl Guides but she went to a Troop in a working class area - so what happened to her charming Liverpool dialect? She changed because like everyone else in the World - she wanted to move up the social ladder and get on in life - unfortunately her husband's New Labour is intent on dragging us all down to the same level by screwing us all with tax after tax. Just another case of don't do what I do, do what I say - e.g. John Prescott Two Jags and a Castle!

You surely don't expect the poor bloke to single-handedly sort out Northern Ireland, the Middle East peace process, bring harmony to Iraq and Afghanistan, make lots of influential friends among world leaders, jet off importantly all over the place, issue soundbites, meet the Queen for a chat every week, be clever at the dipatch box, fend off Gordon & Dave, think up lots of new wheezes such as raising the school leaving age and reshuffle the cabinet every few weeks, and then come home to wiring plugs, do you? Now we know what Cherie is good at - shame this ability is not called for these days.

Lol Well that if we ever neither needed proof he was more interested in George Bush than Cherie's Bush then we have it now.
Of course it works on a political level too but i've got a deviant mind.

Yes, the sign of a true feminist bigot. She will always put her feminism first. Even before her husband. It makes you wonder who is really determining Labour Policies. I bet Tony's ears get a pounding everytime he does something to offend her, and her sisters in arms.

I don't think we should worry to much about Cherie telling the truth about Anthony . Many women I know are far better at household tasks than their husbands/male partners. In any case most of us now realise he is useless at many things.

Yes both my wife and i enjoyed the programme, and heard her silly mistake, but we couldn't remember who her Mother was; she said both her parents were from theatrical back-grounds we knew her Father was in Till death do us part.

Cherie Blair's comment was what some of us like to term a 'joke', not a gaffe.

her son is an alcoholic, and she finds it easy to act out and throw the toxic word useless around as she does herself.
please be understanding of her because she is not at fault, and has not had the desire to change.
