Listen to this for weird cravings, I used to need to smell sponges whilst eating a raw carrot. I used to cover these little scourers with cream cleaner, let them stand for an hour then rinse them and smell them, I had about ten different cleaners on ten different sponges, all at different strengths of smell. I used to wake up in the night, eat a raw carrot and sniff this sponge with my eyes shut. If I went to a friends house, I'd be like 'Oh, I'm just popping to your loo' and then I would smell their sponge.(!!) I even took them into hospital with me when I had the kids. It happened with all 3 pregnancys. Also I used to pinch those little sponges that are inside of pencil cases, I couldn't have bought them, I would've ended up with about 100 unwanted pencil cases! I used to keep those in an airtight tub so they would retain their smell. Talk about pregnancy doing terrible things to a woman!!!

Strange thing about my pregnancy: I never had any cravings, whatsoever! But I had MANY dislikes: garlic, tomatoes, onions just to name a few. Strangest dislike (and now you're going to laugh!) Enrique Iglesias music & anything to do with McDonalds. LOL! The thing is: when I first found out that I was pregnant, I was in the UK visiting my sister. The new Enrique CD has just come out, and my sis listened to it over and over and over again. And on basically every second corner in London there is a McD's! I had a very bad case of nausea, so when I returned to South Africa, I couldn't stand the sight of even the McD sign and when Enriques' music played on the radio, I was so dead nauseaous that I had to leave the room. Think you should just go with the cravings - someone once told me that it was your bodys' way of letting you know what you need. Good luck with the cravings!

Doctors still to this day dont know what exactly causes us pregnant women to have food cravings but they believe it probably has to do with the hormonal changes our body's go through...I to have had some cravings nothing really weird but weird in my opinion. I found with my 2 pregnancies and with this one I have craved pickles, all i want is pickles and actually drink the pickle juice out of the jar,i love sucking on lemons, eating cheese constantly and mashed potatoes. The biggest thing is the pickles though...Its funny how we go through this but then after baby is born the cravings stop.=)

They say the cravings are a sign your lacking something. So what am I lacking when I crave Spicy nachos Doritos? I crave some pretty random things but normal at the same time, like Jack in the Box tacos and A&W root Beer floats. And they have to be from the place I want, or else they are no good.

with my first pregnancy i was not sick one day. i craved mcdonald's cheeseburgers because they were super flat?! the only thing i could not handle was the thought of subway. if i saw a commercial or even thought about the smell of their bread, i got so nauseous. fruity pebbles were my best friend.
with my second, i could not eat anything for the first 3 months. all i did was puke. i would gag food down just to throw it up. then one day i woke up and could not get enough pasta sauce. spaghetti, lasagna, pizza, loved it! donatos mariachi chicken was my favortie thing. it has jalepenos, yummy!
with my third, again i couldn't even keep water down for the first month. i was so sick. if i ate ice cubes, i threw up. i could not eat hot dogs, i couldn't even think about hot dogs. the way they looked, the way they smelled, just everything. i craved raw meat?! crazy, i know. the whole pregnancy all i wanted was a steak that was pink on the inside. i was tempted to eat raw hamburger, it was terrible. people were scared! lol!
i do not understand it, but it is crazy. i did love pickles during all three. i reall yloved salty stuff. it was hard to control my salt intake. my love for dr.pepper went right out the window with all 3. i hated pop. it tasted like syrup. i guess it was good though because i loved water.

I had major salt cravings. I used to eat food just so i could pour salt over it. Not the healthiest thing to crave! I used to have a wierd thing about smells though, especially at the beginning of pregnancy. I used to crave the smell of polish. No idea what that was about.

I had a thing for pickled onions-though would only eat a specific brand. I also craved oranges-particularly the pith (white stuff inside the peel)! Beetroot and ham sandwiches were another.
I once read that cravings were your body's way of telling you what it needed nutritionally.

Long before the days of the 24 hour supermarket my wife had a craving for kippers at 9.30pm.With only a hand full of off licences which only sold booze, cigs and the odd chocolate bar you can only imagine the problem never mind the odd looks I got.

My strangest craving (I'm not joking) was paper towels. Of course I couldn't eat them, but I would tear open a package and sit and smell and smell until finally I would give up. This went on for weeks and the doctor himself couldn't figure out why. That was strange!!

I didn't have food cravings i just had smell cravings. I used to crave smelling really weird things when I was pregnant like, Petrol or Tar. My favourite was rubber and I used to carry around loads of elastice bands and sniff them randomly throughout the day. I have three children and I was the same with all of them and as soon as I had them the cravigns went!!!!
