"Play Sand" comes in various colors and can be purchased at craft stores or most hobby stores. It's a fine grain sand that comes in bags, and is usually used for adhering to adhesive areas (or your own glue) in patterns.

Both Michaels and JoAnn stores have this. You can use Google (www.google.com) to find their websites, and then use the store locator to find the one nearest you. If you get the Sunday paper, look for a Michaels stores ad; there's generally a coupon in their ad for 40% off any one item of regular price. It's worth checking out.

I'm down on the Penisula, but here are two locations:

Talbots Toys in San Mateo
J&M Hobbies in San Carlos

Good luck.

Make it yourself. Bleach the sand then add food coloring.

I agree any Grocery Store would have food coloring. It is generally in the baking isle, or near the spices.

There is a store at Garadelli square that carries all kinds of things. They may have it or they can tell you where to get it
