If you have a signed letter or statement where he gave them to you, then he is the one acting immature. I am assuming that you went back to work once he stopped. He was being immature. His friends, should be his friends and supportive no matter is he is picking up cans, as long as it supports his family. Were you acting immature by dumping his stuff on the lawn where he was staying, possibly. You did say that you had asked him for at least 2 months to remove his belongings. Sometimes, men don't really know what the costs are the go into a household. The fact that he apparently paid your bills while you were not working should have been taken into consideration. This should not have even become an argument. You could have just sat him down and explained... this is what we have coming in and this is what we have going out. If I cant have some help, we will need to make adjustments to continue to make ends meet. he moved in with you, he stopped working because his friends made fun of his job. Sounds like to me, he got lazy and was looking for someone to take care of him. Consider yourself lucky.

Dumping his clothes on the lawn - YES.
Selling the laptop and ring - NO.
This is so typical of what happens when people just settle for a shacking up situation instead of agreeing on some kind of goals and future together. You sacrifice stability and a shared plan for a warm body next to you every night.
Unfortunately, comingling assets and liabilities gets real sticky when the relationship tanks like yours did.
Look at it realistically. If he's got no money, how's he gonna sue? And if you';ve got no money, what's he gonna collect? Tell him that.

Hell yes you acted immature. First of all, you have a kid with a man you aren't married to. You don't mention any particulars but that is the most reliable warning a sign a guy gets about a girl. Then, you hook up with a guy who is obviously a total loser. You let him move in with you, quite frankly, putting your daughter at risk having a total whack job around with easy access to her. You get proof positive that something is really wrong with him but you get lucky and he takes off. Rather than using this valuable opportunity to wash your hands of a bad situation, you use a lame excuse to call him and call him and call him, and then do something dramatic, when that fails to get his attention.
Chica. Stop talking to this loser or doing anything whatsoever that brings any contact with him. Focus on taking care of your daughter. Find a GOOD man. You know, one that isn't showing all these warning signs of being a total freak. Marry him.

It sounds like he is the one who should be asking this question and not you. If he signed the ring over to you it was your right to do with it as you pleased. I do not understand why you paid his bills with the proceeds, you may consider counter suing for that amount. It seems you acted with maturity throughout the ordeal, and you should be glad you didn't wind up with a longer relationship with this person. Good luck

lol I'm sorry to laugh, but he is the one being immature. you did the right thing. these items were gifts and beings they were gift you had every right to do what you wanted to with them.you also had every right to tell him he needed to do his part with the bills. tell him to go ahead and take you to court. he wont get any where with any judge. as far as things you only needed to hold on to them for 30 days and after that you could have thrown it all in the trash. he should feel lucky you were nice enough to drop them off in the lawn. good for you girl!!! please don't ever go back to this idiot!!!!!

No honey. You responded appropriately. You will be safe if he takes it to court. It was a gift for one and secondly, he signed it over to you making you the owner. Rid him from your life once and for all. He is turning out to be a loser.
